I am a family medicine practitioner. Areas of expertise include women’s health including pelvic and pap exams, hormonal imbalance, and menopause issues. I also treat chronic disease such as hypertension, low thyroid function, adrenal fatigue, diabetes, and irritable bowel syndrome. I see patients ages 12 and up.
I am contracted with most insurance providers in this area. Presently, I am open to Moda, Lifewise, Blue Cross, Regence, Liberty Health Share, Pacific Source, and Medicare as well as Medicare Advantage Plans. Please contact us to check if I can take your insurance.
Another area of my practice that is in its beginnings is the practice of functional and metabolic medicine. I believe this to be the future of medicine. Functional and metabolic medicine addresses the prevention of chronic disease and illness and the restoration of health. An evidence-based, patient-centered approach is a key aspect of functional medicine and refers to health care that is respectful of and responsive to the individual patient’s preferences, needs, and values. In this regard, I am investigating treatments that that may be supportive for autoimmune problems and address the connection between autoimmunity, inflammation and digestive disturbance. Functional and metabolic treatments as well as specific lab testing are not presently covered by most insurance plans which is challenging for both patients and myself as their physician.
Note: I follow guidelines set forth from the Oregon Medical Board limiting my scope of practice to emphasizing non-narcotic treatments for pain. I am not trained to see patients on high doses of narcotic medications but can treat these people for other health issues and will gladly refer to pain specialists where indicated. On a case by case basis, I may take on patients presently stable and on limited amounts of opioid medications.
